Doug Sutton
Doug learned early that the right systems can radically change the trajectory of a business. He entered real estate at 20 and, in his early twenties, began studying business strategy, real-estate systems, performance psychology, personal development, mindfulness and human potential.
While still in his twenties, he completed more than 100 real-estate transactions annually, built teams and operating systems, and moved into senior sales and marketing leadership. He later served as CEO of a real-estate organization with more than 300 agents and over $1 billion in annual transaction volume.
Doug went on to help develop business education experiences, facilitate workshops across the country and serve as a senior consultant and leader within an international business consulting organization. Across that work, he advised, trained and supported more than 1,000 entrepreneurs and business owners.
The origin
Growth is powerful. The question is what it serves.
Over time, Doug’s work moved beyond helping virtually any company grow toward a more consequential question: how could growth serve something worth building?
Time and attention are finite. Many brilliant founders are extraordinary at medicine, technology, science, education, wellness or another specialty. Expertise in the mission, however, does not automatically create expertise in building the company capable of carrying that mission.
That requires strategy, leadership, culture, customer experience, growth, economics, partnerships, execution and systems thinking. Doug founded Conscious Growth® in 2012 to dedicate his work to purpose-driven founders and leaders building companies that matter.
The philosophy is not anti-growth. Profitable growth creates greater capacity to serve, innovate, invest, support people and create positive impact when the business is designed consciously.

Conscious leadership creates space to step back from activity, observe what is happening, consider second-order effects and make deliberate choices. Doug’s perspective brings that human judgment together with business strategy, mindfulness and practical operating experience.
